At the crossroads of the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe, Azerbaijan borders the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus Mountains. Azerbaijan is surrounded by regional powers that have long sought to increase their influence in the region and is the only country in the world that shares borders with both Russia and Iran.
What We've Done
IMPL Project has worked in Azerbaijan for the past five years, conducting first a baseline of the community resilience in several areas throughout the country, with each subsequent year building off the previous, creating a robust data network through which programming can be recommended. Each year started with a pre-deployment assessment, the field assessment and then analysis of the gathered data, which could then be compared to different years of data-mapping.
Programming Recommendations
Youth Resilience Councils
Provide training, connect the councils to the local government so they can address the marginalization of youth, and can be tied to economic development programs like English language classes.
